Product Details

I. Product Overview

The Alginate Medical Absorbent Pad is a pure natural marine plant-derived functional medical dressing substrate. The core raw material is alginate fiber refined and extracted from natural brown algae, compounded with high-quality viscose and polyester fibers to form a non-woven absorbent substrate. Unlike chemically synthesized absorbent materials, this product is a green, biodegradable biomaterial with excellent biocompatibility. Its greatest core feature is ultra-high exudate absorption combined with rapid gel formation upon contact with blood/exudate — after contacting wound exudate and blood, it quickly transforms into a soft hydrogel that perfectly conforms to the wound without adhering to it, enabling painless dressing changes and moist wound healing. It is the preferred high-end medical absorbent material for clinical high-exudate and bleeding wounds, available in rolls, sheets, and custom-cut deep processing, compatible with all types of premium wound dressing production.

II. Core Material Principle

Relying on the unique calcium-sodium ion exchange mechanism of natural alginate fibers, when the absorbent pad contacts wound blood and tissue exudate, calcium ions within the fiber rapidly exchange with sodium ions from the wound. The fabric instantly absorbs water, swells, and transforms into a warm, elastic gel layer. The gel layer closely covers the wound, isolating it from external friction and bacterial invasion while maintaining a moist healing environment. This fundamentally solves the pain points of traditional cotton pads — dry scabbing, wound adhesion, painful dressing removal, and secondary damage.

III. Core Product Advantages

✅ Natural plant-source material, safe and hypoallergenic
Made from purified natural marine seaweed fibers, free of chemical synthetic irritants, fluorescent agents, and harmful leachable substances. The pure bio-based material is gentle on skin and can directly contact broken wounds, suitable for sensitive skin and long-term wound care with high medical safety.

✅ Ultra-high absorption, suitable for highly exudating wounds
Alginate fibers have absorption ratios far exceeding ordinary absorbent cotton and conventional blend pads. They can rapidly absorb large volumes of wound pus, tissue fluid, and blood without overflow or side leakage when saturated, significantly reducing dressing change frequency and suitable for long-term care of moderate-to-severe exudating wounds.

✅ Gel formation on contact with blood, truly painless dressing change
Upon contact with blood and exudate, a soft gel protective film forms quickly. It does not adhere to new granulation tissue or epithelial tissue, requiring no tearing during dressing changes — no residue, no pain, completely avoiding secondary mechanical wound damage, greatly improving care comfort and healing efficiency.

✅ Active hemostasis assistance, repairing bleeding wounds
The unique ion exchange reaction can activate platelet aggregation, providing effective hemostatic assistance for bleeding wounds. It can rapidly achieve superficial hemostasis and control wound oozing, suitable for abrasions, cuts, post-operative incisions, and ruptured bleeding wounds.

✅ Creating moist healing environment, accelerating wound repair
The gel layer continuously locks in wound moisture, maintaining a constant-temperature, constant-humidity sealed healing microenvironment. It effectively promotes granulation tissue growth, accelerates epithelial cell migration, shortens wound healing cycles, and reduces the probability of scar hyperplasia.

✅ Stable structure, easy processing, suitable for mass production
Fibers are tightly bonded with no fiber shedding or delamination. The fabric has excellent flatness and toughness, supporting deep processing including slitting, die-cutting, adhesive lamination, embossing, and perforation — compatible with standardized mass production of premium dressings.

4. Burn wounds: Superficial second-degree burns, ruptured wound moisture protection, reducing scab adhesion
5. Special wound care: Donor site wounds, stubborn hard-to-heal wounds, sensitive wounds requiring painless dressing changes

VI. Product Positioning and Differentiation

Compared to conventional rayon-polyester absorbent pads and ordinary non-woven absorbent pads, the alginate absorbent pad focuses on four differentiated advantages: natural biomaterial, gel wound protection on liquid contact, hemostasis and pain relief, and long-term moist healing. It does not rely on chemical absorbent components but achieves high-performance absorption and wound protection through the fiber's own biological properties. It is the core preferred substrate for premium wound dressings and clinical refractory wound care.

VII. Supporting Services

We support free sample prototyping, fiber ratio adjustment, and customization of weight, thickness, and dimensions. Antibacterial components can be compounded as needed for upgraded functional versions.
